I really enjoyed my time as an eLeader at the LPGA Girls Golf Academy this past week. In the end I think I learned more than the participants did!
The first of my favorite experiences was that I got to meet people from all around the U.S. who shared my love for golf. These people were other eLeaders my age, very inspiring coaches, and Nancy Lopez!!!
My second favorite experience was that I got to watch some of the best golf coaches around teach the Girls Golf participants. I learned from them how to coach the younger girls, and I found that the girls listened much better if I lead by example rather than just telling them what to do. I also learned that I can use some of the games the girls were taught to help my own golf game!
My third favorite experience was getting advice for my own mental golf game. We were all privileged enough to hear Nancy Lopez speak about how important it is to play happy, rather than getting down on ourselves and getting frustrated.
Another thing I learned from the coaches is how important it is to have a post-shot routine. Almost everyone has a pre-shot routine, but most people don’t think twice about what to do afterwards.
I am very thankful for having been a part of the wonderful Girls Golf academy and I wouldn’t want to change one minute of my experience.
